So for the second time in as many years, I have gone to what may be the last Kings game ever.
I know it’s a business, but as I sat there among the sell-out crowd, chanting, clapping and crying: the only thing I could thing is: “This is wrong.”
There is nothing more you could ask for from the fans of Sacramento. Nothing. With an arena deal and a new ownership group waiting to take the reigns, there is nothing more you could ask from the city.
This has gone on for far too long. Sports Illustrated recently acknowledged that the Maloofs are the worst owners in all of professional sports. They have refused to sell to Sacramento out of pettiness and spite — mainly because the city continually thwarted their plans to take the Kings away.
I am a fan of Seattle. My wife is from there. I want them to get the NBA team they so desperately want and deserve — but not like this. Two wrongs do not make a right.
Sacramento deserves these Kings.
